Teaching Self Defence in Dublin for 25 years.
Who runs the Classes
The classes are run by Patrick Cumiskey, who has over 45 years in teaching experience in teaching self-defense from an initial career in martial arts, achieving his first black belt at 18. He then set a goal to teach everyday normal people how to protect themselves and became Ireland's first Krav Maga instructor in 2001/ Since then, he run self lasses self-defense classes all over Ireland, but based in Dublin, and taught thousands of people how to protect themselves fast.
What is the Goal of the Self Defence training
The goal of the training is to teach everyday normal people how to protect themselves fast. We focus on teaching self-defense fast because we want you to be able to protect yourself as quickly as possible.
While martial arts and other combat sports are fun, effective, and good for fitness, they can take years to learn. Where our focus is within a 12-week or a two-day window, we teach you how you can defend yourself against common assault and the real threats that exist in the streets.
Where in Dublin are the classes
Our classes are held in the heart of Dublin, just close to Harcourt Charlemount Street luas stations. The exact address is 29 Avenue Road, Portobello.
How are the classes structured
Classes are structured to teach you how to protect yourself as quickly as possible with each class and module building on the next. The course can be taken two ways:
- Take the course as 12 weekly classes. Classes are 90 minutes and run every week, building on each class sequentially. The classes also allow for the fact that you may take holidays or have other commitments during the course, so don't worry about missing a class - it's designed to be able to deal with that situation.
- The weekend course is for people who want to get access to the self defene capability or cannot attend weekly classes. The course runs from 9:30 to 5:00 Saturday and Sunday with a lunch break both days.
The whole idea of the course is to get you the essential skills as quickly as possible with a very structured weekend.
What Happens after the Course
Once this course is complete, you have a number of options:
- We provide you with the entire course in video, so you'll never have to worry about remembering the techniques.
- WE have free refresher training every year, so every year you're entitled to a fresher program to make sure the skills stay intact.
- We have next level training which can be attended either as weekly classes or a level two full day courses,
so whatever works for you you can continue your training immediately or you can focus on refreshing the core skills when it suits you.
