What You Will Learn in Our Self Defence Classes
Our self defence classes teach you practical skills you can use immediately. This is not a martial arts class — it is a structured programme designed to teach everyday people how to protect themselves and their families from violent assault.
The classes combine psychology, situational awareness, and easy-to-learn physical techniques in a step-by-step programme. You will learn how to recognise danger before it escalates, how to de-escalate confrontation, and what to do if you have no choice but to defend yourself.
Every technique is based on the body’s natural reactions, so they are easy to learn and easy to remember under pressure — even months after the classes end.
What Is Included
- Full self defence programme — 12-week classes or 2-day intensive
- Complete course on video — professionally filmed, yours to keep
- Free refresher training for life — come back every year at no extra cost
- Psychology and awareness training — not just physical techniques
- Small class sizes — personal attention from qualified instructors
- Certificate of completion
Who Are Our Self Defence Classes For?
Our classes are for anyone who wants to feel safer and more confident. You do not need any previous experience, any specific fitness level, or any martial arts background.
Our participants range from age 18 to 80+. We train office workers, parents, students, healthcare staff, teachers, and people who simply want to know what to do if something happens. Over 80,000 people have completed our classes since 2001.
Teenagers aged 16+ can attend with a participating parent or guardian. We also run dedicated parent and teen self defence classes throughout the year.
Where Are the Classes Held?
All self defence classes take place at our dedicated training facility in Dublin City Centre:
29 Avenue Road, Portobello, Dublin
Close to Harcourt Street and Charlemont Luas stops. Street parking available. The venue is easy to find and centrally located — just minutes from St Stephen’s Green.
Your Instructor: Patrick Cumiskey
All classes are led by Patrick Cumiskey, who brought Krav Maga to Ireland in 2001 and has trained over 80,000 people and 25+ military units. Patrick is a qualified psychotherapist and holds an MBA from the University of Wales. He has been featured on almost every major TV channel and newspaper in Ireland.
Patrick developed these self defence classes specifically for people with no martial arts background. Every technique, drill, and scenario is designed to be learned quickly and retained long-term.
